IRUSOIN
Irusoin, audiovisual production company founded in 1982 and located in the Basque Country has extensive experience in film and television production. The company has produced a number of documentaries, feature-length films and animation series (traditional and 3D) and is currently involved in the development and production of several international projects. Irusoin has its own creative team and sound and image equipment for production and postproduction at its centres in Bilbao and San Sebastián. The full-length animation film La isla del cangrejo, produced by Irusoin, was awarded a Goya in 2001 for the best feature-length animation film, and was preceded by one of the classics in Basque animation, La calabaza mágica (1985) by Juan Bautista Berasategi. Together with Dibulitoon Studio, Irusoin has coproduced: Glup (2003) Supertramps (2004), and Cristóbal Molón (Christopher Coolumbus) in 2006.
In 2005 Irusoin, Alokatu and ETB coproduced Aupa Etxebeste! a film directed by Telmo Esnal and Asier Altuna, starring Paco Sagarzazu, Elena Irureta, Ramón Aguirre and Iban Garate. Irusoin, In 2005 Irusoin joined Benecè Produccions and Moriarti Produkzioak, with support from ETB, SVT (Swedish Public TV), ICAA and the Basque Government, to shoot a feature-length documentary film by Jon Garaño titled The Dragon House. Irusoin is now immersed in the production of its upcoming projects (with a view to 2007), including two documentaries – Butus by Olivier Van Der Zee, and Lucio by Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi – and two fiction films – Eutsi by Alberto J. Gorritiberea and ¿Y tú quién eres? by Antonio Mercero
